Problem Skin: Internal & External

Problem Skin: Internal & External

Many seek out SkinCare Matters for help with skin problems. I'm happy to lead them to non toxic alternatives. But fixing our skin externally doesn't always work. (Sure is nice when it's that easy!) Sometimes its' an internal problem. It's shocking to discover acne, breakouts, and skin irritations can be connected to:

-flouride intake

-pesticides in food

-sugar intake

-food allergies

-leaky gut

-hormonal imbalances

-emotional causes

-high stress

Skin is a separate organ, but it works in tandem with the rest of our bodies. This means we can't isolate it and try to treat its' problems apart from the rest of our consumption and bodily functions. Our WHOLE person has to be considered. Are we eating clean? Consuming clean water? Managing stress levels?

There is usually a root cause to everything. Finding it can be tricky. The even more difficult thing is, everyone is different. My personal effective formula for skin health may or may not be the same as some one else's since our body chemistry has completely different needs.

Externally fixing a skin problem looks like this:

+Cleanse Daily

+Stay moisturized

+Exfoliate- do deeper cleaning each week, like a mask or scrub

+Use clean products

Internally fixing a skin problem might look like this:

+Clean up nutrition: eat well and consume whole foods that heal and nourish

+Gut health repair- take a good probiotic and consume probiotic- rich foods

+Possibly get tested for allergies and other imbalances while working with a trusted healthcare professional

+Hormone balance: support those chemical messengers by eating foods high in nutrients

+Get sufficient sleep, fresh air and exercise

+Supplement: collagen, apple cider vinegar

Solving skin problems will likely go faster when both internal and external issues are addressed. Let's find those connections and move towards long term health in every aspect.
