Did you know physiological changes, stomach acid and enzyme secretion are directly related to our STRESS LEVELS? We need the correct amount of enzymes and acids to break down our food. Unhealthy stress levels cause all kinds of imbalance in the body. But improving digestion is not JUST about the food we eat or supplementation. You could be eating the most glorious, lovely food on earth, but if you're under stress, the stomach is missing the enzymes that will properly break it down and let it truly be fuel for the body.
Which begs the question....
Did you ever stop to think that taking care of the nervous system might have more of a positive impact than scrounging to find that elusive "perfect food"?
Here's a hard truth: Submitting one's will to the latest trending "diet" is easier than learning the art of REST. For instance, temporarily lassoing the taste buds is easier than the inner discipline it takes to turn off the show and choose sleep instead when you know its what your body craves. Grabbing a caffeine fix seems like a good idea when you're slumping, and it's more convenient than reorganizing and prioritizing to make room for more adequate sleep. Shushing the taste buds with empty calories surely is more convenient than the time it takes for careful meal planning.
All of those quick fixes are easier than building and cultivating a LIFESTYLE of healthy habits. We want it all cut and died and packaged in an easy- to- follow formula. But life's not that way. Choosing the best from what we have is what's important. It may not be perfect- but it's enough. And its a beautiful step.
We are highly integrated, WHOLE creatures... and we must treat ourselves as such.
Let's broaden the perspective and love on our central nervous system, which works for us continuously and subconsciously- despite how it's abused.
